Will Buie at work on the scroll saw

William (Will) Buie was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His family moved to Austin, Texas when he was three years old.  Will returned to New Mexico where his farther worked with the Mission Board at the First Indian Baptist Church in Gallup.

Will attended Gallup Junior and Gallup High school and graduated in 1979.  Will joined the Navy in 1984, and completed 21 years of service which included three ships and a number of deployments in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Shining Hope, Kuwait Liberation, Kosovo and Post 911 Global War on Terrorism.  Will is a retired disabled Senior Chief and active member of the local Post 8 American Legion.

Will comes from a family of artists, his farther Sonny Buie, a minister and Texas Artist who first taught Will to use a Scroll Saw at the age of 8. His Uncle Red is active in the Pearl River Carving Club in Mississippi. Links to both his fathers and uncles sites can be found on the SaltyDog's web site.

Will picked up scrolling again after he completed his time in the Navy and with some health issues he used it as "therapy". He enjoys his time making patterns and scrolling and focuses on religious, military and custom work.

Will is currently employed with the City Of Gallup.
